# Barack Obama: world is 'safer' after Osama bin Laden's death

death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

[Osama bin Laden][1] was killed in a [United States ][2] special forces
assault on his [Pakistan][3] compound, then quickly buried at sea, in a
dramatic end to the long manhunt for the al Qaeda leader who had become the
most powerful symbol of global terrorism.

"Our country has kept its commitment to see that justice is done. The world is
safer," Obama said.

"It is a better place because of the death of Osama bin Laden," he added.
