It's a 29-year-old success story - and four generations later, the Micra is
more popular than ever. The newest model expands on its predecessor's
attributes - town-friendly dimensions, equipment, comfort and technology
levels beyond its class - by combining them with superb eco-credentials and
even cheaper running costs.

The NEW NISSAN MICRA is a five- door hatchback, with a three-cylinder
1.2-litre engine, in three grades: Visia, Acenta and Tekna. Two transmissions
are offered: a five-speed manual and a continuously variable unit. Its compact
size at 12ft 1in (3.7m) long is perfect for city driving.

This is aided by a class-leading turning circle and a Parking System. Teamed
with rear park sensors, it measures any space, advises whether the vehicle
would fit and then guides the car in. Ideal for a town car, and unique in this
sector.

A clever interior means the NEW NISSAN MICRA has room for five people; the
roof is high, while the rear is notable for its leg room - ideal if you
regularly carry more than one adult.

The contemporary cabin and generously equipped dashboard highlights just how
far the model has come. Worthy of comment are the logical controls, simple-to-
read dials and adjustable steering wheel. The advanced yet easy-to-operate
Nissan Connect system uses "friendly" technology to combine touchscreen
satellite navigation, Bluetooth and MP3 compatibility.

Automatic, speed-sensitive door locking provides security, as does an engine
immobiliser when you park. Its improved dynamics incorporate comfortable
suspension tuning and speed-sensitive power-steering, while performance is
keen, with 0-62mph in 13.7 seconds and a 105mph top speed.

The NEW NISSAN MICRA's combination of big-car standards, small-car running
costs and user- friendly charm goes a long way to make city driving a
pleasure.
