Prince Charles visited Hampshire on Thursday and fulfilled every schoolboy's
|
|
ambition by sitting at the controls of a steam engine.
|
|
|
|
The 62-year-old Prince, joined by the Duchess of Cornwall in a carriage
|
|
further back, went for a ride on the train that takes visitors around Exbury
|
|
Garden in the New Forest.
|
|
|
|
The Prince even donned a driver's cap and jacket as he rode in the cab of
|
|
Mariloo, the engine named by the Queen when she visited the award-winning site
|
|
in 2008.
|
|
|
|
Leopold de Rothschild, whose father Lionel created the gardens more than 90
|
|
years ago, drove the locomotive with the prince at his side.
