# The Queen in Ireland: itinerary of historical trip
## As Queen Elizabeth II becomes the first British monarch in 100 years to
visit Ireland, here is the itinerary of her four-day tour.

**Tuesday 17th May**
After her afternoon arrival at Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel - a military
airbase south west of Dublin - the [**Queen**][7]** **will go to Áras an
Uachtarain, the official resident of** [Irish][8] **president Mary McAleese,
for a tree planting ceremony
Garden of Remembrance - the Queen will visit the memorial garden in Dublin
dedicated to the memory of "all those who gave their lives in the cause of
Irish Freedom", where there will be a wreath laying ceremony
Trinity College - The Queen will then view the Book of Kells in Trinity
College Library before attending a reception in the university's Long Room.

_Morning_
The day starts with a tour of the Guinness Storehouse which includes a
"Windows" Tour of Dublin's skyline from the seventh floor.
It will be followed by a visit to Government Buildings where the Queen will be
greeted by Enda Kenny, the Taoiseach.
_Afternoon_
A wreath-laying ceremony at the Irish War Memorial Garden, Islandbridge, will
be followed by a visit to Croke Park stadium which includes a meeting with GAA
members.
State dinner at Dublin Castle
**Thursday 19th May**
_Morning_
The Queen will visit the National Stud at Kildare which will include a meeting
with industry representatives followed by a private visit to Coolmore - the
world-renowned international thoroughbred racehorse stud in Tipperary.
The Duke of Edinburgh will attend a reception at Farmleigh House with members
of Gaisce - The President's Award
_Afternoon_
A celebration of the State visit to Ireland will be hosted by the British
Embassy
**Friday 20th May **
_Morning_
The day will start with a tour of St. Patrick's Rock, Cashel
_Afternoon_
Meeting with traders at the English Market, Cork
Tour of the research facility at Tyndall Institute, Cork followed by reception
Departure from Cork Airport
