## There are many fantastic places to stay when you travel to Cantabria in
|
|
Spain with Brittany Ferries. Here's a selection of some of the best.

**_Hotel Infantado, Potes _**
|
|
|
|
About 20 minutes walk from the market town, and with a good-sized car park,
|
|
the Infantado makes an ideal place from which to explore the mountains and
|
|
Liebana valley. Modern yet built in a classical style. With good breakfasts.
|

**Hotel El Rebeco, Fuente De**
|
|
|
|
Beat the summer queues at the famous cable car by staying right next door.
|
|
This rustic hotel has rooms with balconies and marvellous mountain views, plus
|
|
a restaurant. Valley and woodland walks are on the doorstep.
|
|
|
|
**Gran Hotel Victoria, Santander**
|
|
|
|
A good modern choice in the city, the Victoria is a stylish four-star
|
|
establishment with many rooms having balconies with sea views. It has its own
|
|
mini golf course and is close to Sardinero beach.
|

**Hotel Altamira, Santillana del Mar**
|
|
|
|
The historic village becomes surprisingly quiet once all the day visitors have
|
|
gone. This olde-worlde hotel has lots of wooden beams, a lovely garden terrace
|
|
and a quaint bar.

**Hotel Bahia, Santander**
|
|
|
|
Right by the ferry terminal so very convenient, this luxurious hotel has
|
|
elegant rooms, garage parking and a highly regarded restaurant (breakfasts are
|
|
massive!). It's close to a shopping centre for last-minute gifts.

**Hotel Albatros, Suances **
|
|
|
|
Pretty ivy-covered hotel near Suances, on the coast west of Santander, with
|
|
colour-themed floors, pool, restaurant, bar, sauna and gym. A great surfing
|
|
beach is 10 minutes' walk away.
|
|

**Gran Hotel Liber Spa, Noja**
|
|
|
|
For a little pampering, the Liber Spa has a spa pool, outdoor pool, jacuzzi,
|
|
sauna and sun terrace. Rooms are of a high standard; there are plush lounges
|
|
and a restaurant. Close to Ris beach, golf and a children's play area.
|
|
|
|
**Hotel Casona El Arral, Lierganes **
|
|
|
|
Country house hotel in an 18th-century mansion beside the Meira river, ideal
|
|
for trips into the lovely valley. Both the grounds and nearby village are
|
|
gorgeous; check out the romanesque bridge and spa centre in the area.

**Apartamentos Maritimo Ris, Noja**
|
|
|
|
Well placed to take advantage of the excellent Ris beach and the restaurants
|
|
of Noja, these modern apartments are well equipped for families. On site there
|
|
is a spa pool and jacuzzi, while the apartments have bedrooms and a sofabed in
|
|
the living area.
|

|
|
**Camping Playa Oyambre**
|
|
|
|
Popular with Spanish and foreign visitors, this campsite, which has a
|
|
selection of chalets, is a short drive from San Vicente de la Barquera and
|
|
about 10 minutes walk from Oyambre beach. The site boasts a large pool,
|
|
restaurant and play area, while the chalets have two bedrooms and a terrace.
|
|
|
|
**Barn conversion, Barcenaciones **
|
|
|
|
About six miles from Santillana del Mar in a peaceful village, it's a rustic
|
|
property with wood beams and a covered courtyard, next to a river. The pretty
|
|
village is a short stroll away and the English owners live next door.
|
|
|
|
**Holiday house, Acenaba **
|
|
|
|
Semi-detached house in a hamlet near Potes has shared use of a swimming pool,
|
|
small restaurant and bar, ideal for sociable families. There's a large living
|
|
area, four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
|
|
|
|
**Holiday house, Soto Iruz **
|
|
|
|
A two-storey house full of character next to a river and an old mill, set in a
|
|
farming village near Puente Viesgo. There are four bedrooms and a comfortable
|
|
living area.

**Casa La Huerta, Luriezo**
|
|
|
|
A short drive from Potes, this stone cottage lies up a steep road in a
|
|
wonderful mountain hamlet setting. Set in open grounds, it has two bedrooms
|
|
and is thoughtfully furnished.

**Holiday home, Argonos **
|
|
|
|
Looking out over the water close to Santona, with views of the marshes - an
|
|
important habitat for many birds - is this a simple yet attractive dwelling,
|
|
one of three, with two bedrooms and a small garden.
|
|

**Casa El Refugio, near San Vicente de la Barquera**
|
|
|
|
A little over a mile from attractive San Vicente de la Barquera, this
|
|
triangular cottage is most unusual. A glassed-in balcony affords stunning
|
|
views. There are two cosy bedrooms and a large garden.
|
|
|
|
**Casa Joaquin, Gajano **
|
|
|
|
In a small fishing village across the bay from Santander, this little semi-
|
|
detached bungalow is very well situated for exploring. There are three
|
|
bedrooms, a well-fitted kitchen, and a large garden with barbecue.
