It's hard to pick out the highlights of Walt Disney World because it all comes
down to your personal preference. One person's thrill could terrify another.
One child's idea of "I'm too old for that" could be the height of wonder to
smaller kids. The great thing is, there's something for everyone.
It's easy to plan your visit in advance, with facilities such as **14-Day
Ultimate tickets, that include free travel between parks** - currently
available for the price of a seven-day ticket when you book a package with
Virgin Holidays (terms and conditions apply); the **Fastpass, that cuts down
on waiting times**; and even an online forum run by mums happy to share their
inside knowledge ([**www.disneyworldmoms.com**][4]).
Lots more advice on tickets, planning and the attractions is all there on the
key website, [**www.disneyworld.co.uk**][5]** **
Here's just a little taste of what you can expect from your dream holiday in
Disney's four theme parks and two water parks.

### MAGIC KINGDOM PARK AT WALT DISNEY WORLD, FLORIDA
In Magic Kingdom, you'll find **Cinderella Castle **- Disney's iconic
fairytale fortress - and experience the colourful parade, a daily night-time
fireworks show and full-on adventures.
**Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin** has a huge breadth of appeal. You find
yourself in the middle of a giant arcade game, firing lasers and racking up
points as you head to the ultimate showdown with the Evil Emperor Zurg. Riders
in two-seater XP-37 space cruisers which glide along an "Omnimover", rotate a
full 360 degrees as they pass through 13 different venues including the Robot
Factory and Planet Z.
Just as much of a crowd-puller is **The Magic Carpets of Aladdin**, where you
steer your own magic carpet and meet genies and camels that have a cheeky
habit of spitting water at you.
**Jungle Cruise**'s journey of surprises remains ever popular. This narrated
cruise takes you deep into jungle to meet audio- animatronic lions, elephants,
hippos and zany explorers.
### EPCOT AT WALT DISNEY WORLD, FLORIDA
Over at Epcot, **Future World** combines Disney fantasy with science and
innovation, while **World Showcase** is an amazing kaleidoscope of nations and
cultures - from Morocco to Japan, and France to China.
In Future World, speed demons should head to Test Track, the park's fastest
ride, to take the steering wheel for a thrilling 65 mph race track speed
trial.
Smaller ones will love Turtle Talk with Crush, where they interact with a real
time animation of the Finding Nemo character.
At the interactive Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure, budding crime
fighters can help Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable combat evil-doers' plans for
global domination, as they dash between the 11 world pavilions.
**Epcot Character **spot is the place to meet and greet all your favourite
Disney characters. Be sure to check out the park guide's daily time table to
discover when and where to join the fun.
### DISNEY'S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD, FLORIDA
At Disney's Hollywood Studios you'll be able to re-live favourite films, see
stunt shows, take a back-lot tour or become a star yourself. There's something
for everyone, regardless of age.
One highlight here is **The Star Tours**, based on the Star Wars films, which
reopens this month with new sets, vehicles and characters. The 3D Adventure
Continues puts guests in a deep-space flight simulator which whisks them to
galaxies far, far away. Make sure the force is with you, because evil Darth
Vader will try to sabotage your trip.
There's more action in **Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular** where
volunteers are invited to join the stunt men and women to re-enact exciting
scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark. There are fights, fires and chases, and
if you sit near the front you'll even feel the heat of the flames. The Cairo
marketplace scene includes some great acrobatics.
Younger children will enjoy the chance to sing and dance with their favourite
Disney characters in **Disney Junior - Live on Stage!**
And for more fast paced action, **Rock 'n' Rollercoaster**, starring
Aerosmith, blasts you across 3,400 feet of twisting tracks, in a super-stretch
limo rollercoaster, with the force of a supersonic F-14.
### ANIMAL KINGDOM PARK AT WALT DISNEY WORLD, FLORIDA
In Disney's Animal Kingdom, don't miss the 30-minute, big-as-Broadway live
show, **Festival of the Lion King**, which combines the pageantry of a parade
with a tribal celebration.
There's music from the original film, dancing and fire juggling as Timon,
Simba, Pumbaa, Rafiki, Zazu and Mufasa team up with a band of African tribal
performers to tell the tale of a lion cub who can't wait to be king.
The show is performed in a theatre-in-the-round and audience members are most
definitely encouraged to take part.
Attractions include **Kali River Rapids**, a plunging raft ride through the
churning waters of an Asian rainforest; **The Boneyard**, a sandy dinosaur
playground where smaller children can dig for fossils and navigate a multi-
level maze; and **Pangani Forest Exploration Experience**, a self-guided
walking tour of native African wildlife.
Along the trail you can get up close with the cute meerkats, watch a
fascinating colony of mole rats in their burrows, and see the grace of mammoth
hippos swimming, from an underwater glass viewing area.
Stars of the show are a band of lowland gorillas. These giant vegetarians
share 98 per cent of our DNA. When you watch their behaviour and gestures,
that will not seem so far-fetched.
It's worth taking a trip underground into the roots of **The Tree of Life** at
Animal Kingdom's centre, which includes the multimedia** Its Tough to be a
Bug! **where stars of A Bug's Life give a surprising look at the animal
kingdom.
### TYPHOON LAGOON AT WALT DISNEY WORLD, FLORIDA
It would be almost impossible for anyone to cherry-pick the best attractions
in the two Disney water parks - Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.
At Typhoon Lagoon, it's hard to resist **Shark Reef**, a snorkelling adventure
par excellence. Guests are provided with free snorkelling equipment and can
swim with leopard and bonnet-head sharks, stingrays and schools of colourful
tropical fish in a coral reef surrounding an overturned sunken tanker.
More action is offered at **Surf Pool**, one of the world's largest wave
pools, where the surf's up all day long.
If you just want to catch the rays, then the pool has white-sand beaches to
sprawl on.
No water park would be complete without a hair-raising waterslide and here
you'll find **Humunga Kowabunga**, which will propel you down 214ft-long
flumes in the dark and give you a surprise at the end -- beside the surprise
that you have actually survived the experience.
Another thriller is **Crush 'n' Gusher**, the only water coaster of its kind
which takes you on an undulating, watery ride that twists and turns through
dense tropical forest.
### BLIZZARD BEACH AT WALT DISNEY WORLD, FLORIDA
At Blizzard Beach, a highlight is **Summit Plummet**. At 120ft, it is the
world's tallest and one of the fastest free-flowing body slides. Plunging into
a 360ft-long flume, you whizz down in the dark at speeds of between 50 and 60
mph.
Equally thrilling is **Runoff Rapids**, a dark enclosed tube ride which has
been compared to a watery version of Space Mountain.
Whether you're with water loving mermaids or pirates, little landlubbers or
sunseekers, there's something for everyone.
