# Hamilton to complain to SPL over late postponement of Dundee United clash
|

|
## Hamilton are to formally complain to the Scottish Premier League over the
|
|
late postponement of their midweek game against Dundee United at Tannadice.
|

Match referee Willie Collum declared the pitch unplayable just before 5.30pm
|
|
on Wednesday night, little more than two hours before kick-off.
|
|
|
|
Hamilton had requested an earlier inspection but SPL secretary Iain Blair
|
|
wanted to give the pitch time to recover and was also eager for Glasgow-based
|
|
Collum himself to take the decision rather than a local match official.
|
|
|
|
Accies secretary Scott Struthers told the club's official website: "At
|
|
lunchtime we formally requested an inspection no later than 3.30pm, but the
|
|
SPL rejected that request instantly. That disappointed us.
|
|
|
|
"By delaying to 5.30pm, when our team were more than halfway there, and our
|
|
fans had also set off, was far from ideal in the circumstances.
|
|
|
|
"We shall be writing to the SPL further on the matter."

|

Struthers insisted he had no problem with United's approach to the situation
|
|
or Collum's decision.
|
|
|
|
"United were open and honest with us all day, we knew there was a grave doubt
|
|
at lunchtime," Struthers said.
|
|
|
|
"(Manager) Billy Reid actually came up early at 3.30pm to see for himself
|
|
while I got here at 5pm.
|
|
|
|
"The referee was more than thorough in his inspection and I agree that the
|
|
pitch isn't playable.
|
|
|
|
"Our gripe is that this inspection could and should have been, ideally, a
|
|
couple of hours earlier.
|
|
|
|
"If we know at lunchtime that there are serious doubts, and the forecast is
|
|
for heavy rain after 6pm, and United themselves weren't overly optimistic, and
|
|
they know the pitch, then an inspection should have been earlier."
|
|
|
|
Blair revealed that the desire for match referees to carry out inspections
|
|
stemmed from recent experiences when local referees had declared pitches
|
|
playable before the designated official overruled them later.
|
|
|
|
Struthers added: "That's not to say that any early inspection could have been
|
|
positive, and it could have fallen foul later, as has happened in the past,
|
|
and I accept Iain Blair's point, but when all those in the know are giving
|
|
odds against, then it's reasonably obvious what the eventual decision will
|
|
be."
|
|
|
|
**Hibernian** received a double boost as Danny Galbraith signed a new contract
|
|
and Francis Dickoh won his wrongful dismissal claim.
|
|
|
|
Former Manchester United youngster Galbraith has signed a deal which ties him
|
|
to Easter Road until the summer of 2013.
|
|
|
|
And Dickoh is free to play in Sunday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash at
|
|
St Mirren Park after his red card against Kilmarnock was overturned.
|
|
|
|
The Ghanaian defender was sent off by Steve Conroy when he conceded a penalty
|
|
for a challenge on Kieran Agard during Hibernian's 2-1 home win on Saturday.
|
|
|
|
Dickoh claimed he had won the ball before bringing down Agard and the Scottish
|
|
Football Association upheld his appeal.
|
|
|
|
