[Comments][6]
**ENGLAND**
**Joe Hart 6 **Commanding from crosses but was otherwise a spectator as the
match gradually fizzled out after England's two early goals.
**Glen Johnson 7 **Untroubled defensively and excellent in attack, notably
when he released Young with a wonderful pass to help create England's second.
**Michael Dawson 6 **Outstanding this season for Tottenham in the Champions
League, but occasionally gets too close to the opposing striker and was easily
turned by Morison during the first-half John Terry 7 Booed relentlessly by the
Wales fans, but provided an emphatic answer by picking out Young who then won
the penalty for the crucial first goal.
**Ashley Cole 7 **Was quick to get forward to play an important part in the
build-up to Lampard's penalty. Kept Bellamy quiet in the first-half and made
several telling defensive interceptions.

**Scott Parker 8 **Disciplined and impressive performance in front of
England's back four. Still needs to be tested against more threatening
opposition to become the definitive solution.
**Jack Wilshere 6 **Granted more freedom to push forward than with Arsenal
and, although his final ball was just lacking, he helped England dominate
midfield.
**Frank Lampard 6 **Finished with precision and confidence to put England
ahead from the penalty spot but only occasionally broke forward despite the
security of Parker behind him.
**Ashley Young 8 **The architect of England's two goals. Drifted cleverly into
space to win a penalty and then exposed Danny Collins to calmly cross for Bent
to double the lead.
**Darren Bent 7** Preferred ahead of Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch as the main
central striker and justified inclusion with a well taken finish for England's
second
**Wayne Rooney 5 **A peripheral influence on the left and his frustration was
occasionally evident, notably when collecting a costly booking for a late
challenge on Ledley.
**Substitutes: **Stewart Downing replaced Wilshere and almost scored with a
curling 90th minute shot. James Milner came on for Rooney while Phil Jagielka
was a late substitute in central midfield for Parker.
**WALES**
**Wayne Hennessey 6 **Blameless for the two England goals and was largely
untested beyond those opening 15 minutes, although his distribution was
occasionally wayward.
**Chris Gunter 7** One of the few Wales players to emerge with genuine credit.
Kept Rooney quiet down England's left and got forward to produce some probing
second-half crosses.
**Ashley Williams 6 **Has been a pivotal figure in Swansea's push for the
Premier League and acquitted himself well against Bent despite England's
general dominance.
**James Collins 5** Endured a nightmare start as he slipped and then became
entangled with Young to concede a penalty but did improve as the match
unfolded.
**Danny Collins 5 **Struggled to contain Young's pace throughout and was left
particularly exposed when the Aston Villa midfielder got behind the Welsh
defence to create England's second.
**Craig Bellamy 7** The most creative and lively Welsh player, particularly
when he switched to the left at the beginning of the second half and twice
almost split England's defence.
**Joe Ledley 5 **Wales were overrun in midfield as Parker, Wilshere and
Lampard controlled possession, forcing Ledley to spend a long afternoon
chasing shadows.
**Andrew Crofts 5 **Norwich midfielder was another to suffer as Fabio Capello
out-witted Gary Speed tactically to allow England to out-number Wales in the
central areas.
**Andy King 5 **Anonymous during the first-half but was more dangerous when he
shifted to the right. Blazed one inviting second-half chance over.
**Aaron Ramsey 5 **The Wales captain was employed just behind Morison as the
most advanced central midfielder but, with England dominating possession, he
struggled to influence the game.
**Steve Morison 6 **Starved of service, although did well to get behind Dawson
to produce Wales' most threatening moment of the first-half.
**Substitutes: **David Vaughan and Ched Evans were introduced during the
second-half and did provide Wales with added energy if not the necessary
quality to seriously threaten Hart's goal.
