|

During a chat show broadcast on Paris Premiere in February 2007, French writer
|
|
Tristane Banon alleged she was violently attacked by Dominique Strauss Kahn
|
|
nine years ago.
|
|
|
|
In this clip from the show, she tells host Thierry Ardisson and his guests -
|
|
publisher Jacques Seguela, government press adviser Thierry Saussez,
|
|
journalist Jean-Michel Aphatie and actor Roger Hanin - that the attack
|
|
happened in 2002 while she was interviewing him for a book she was writing.
|
|
|
|
Describing him as "a rutting chimpanzee" who "no attractive women want to work
|
|
for", she alleged he invited her back to his flat before forcing himself upon
|
|
her.
|
|
|
|
She escaped and considered filing charges of attempted rape at the time but,
|
|
not wanting to be known "as the girl who had a problem with a politician",
|
|
decided against it for the sake of her career.
|
|
|
|
Mr Strauss Kahn's name was censored in the original broadcast. He was later
|
|
named when the video was posted online.

**Triptane Banon:** I had a bad experience with [Dominique Strauss-Kahn].
|
|
|
|
**Thierry Ardisson:** That's right, [Dominique Strauss-Kahn].
|
|
|
|
**TB:** He is a rutting chimpanzee!
|
|
|
|
**TA:** He is obsessed with - well, it's true, we know it - he is obsessed
|
|
with chicks, seriously.
|
|
|
|
**TB:** In the National Assembly, there is not an attractive girl left willing
|
|
to work in his office. You just have to look: he must be the only one with a
|
|
secretary who is 60 years old and practically obese. Well, there must be a
|
|
reason...
|
|
|
|
**TA: **So how did it happen, then?
|
|
|
|
**TB:** What happened was that, for my first book Erreurs Avouees (Mistakes
|
|
Confessed) - for which I interviewed you too - the concept was to ask
|
|
celebrities the biggest mistake of their lives. Naturally I asked him too. He
|
|
stonewalled, as was to be expected. I told him "well, I'm not sure I will use
|
|
this," to which he replied "look, I'm leaving, I'll call you when I get home
|
|
if I think of something else to tell you". He called me back later and
|
|
suggested we meet. He gave me an address I didn't know. Now that surprised me
|
|
since I know a little about his life. I know where he lives, I know where his
|
|
office is, I have an idea of where the Assembly is located. It wasn't any of
|
|
these. I arrived at the address. I parked my car, I went upstairs. It was an
|
|
empty flat.
|
|
|
|
**TA:** Oh my.
|
|
|
|
**TB:** Totally empty. With a VCR, a television, a bed at the back. Very
|
|
beautiful, he has good taste, mister has good taste. Exposed beams, beautiful,
|
|
with a courtyard. And then, he gently closed the door. I put down the tape
|
|
recorder immediately to record. He wanted me to hold his hand while he
|
|
answered, because he told me: "I won't be able to if you don't hold my hand".
|
|
And after that, from my hand, he went to my arm, and then a bit higher. So I
|
|
stopped right away. When I arrived I was wearing a black turtleneck ...
|
|
|
|
**TA:** When you left, you only had a thong!
|
|
|
|
**TB:** ... it may excite guys to see a black turtleneck, but come on. And
|
|
after that, things ended very, very badly, because we ended up fighting.
|
|
|
|
**TA:** Yeah, they had a fight.
|
|
|
|
**TB:** It ended very, very violently because I told him clearly... Truly, we
|
|
did fight. We didn't merely slap each other, we gave - well I gave - kicks,
|
|
and he undid my bra, he tried to undo my jeans.
|
|
|
|
**TA:** Ah, I just love that.
|
|
|
|
**Guest:** I mean, you see, this is foolish. If he can do that, he can do
|
|
anything.
|
|
|
|
**TB:** When finally I left, he sent me a text message straight away saying:
|
|
"So, are you afraid of me?" in a provocative tone. I had talked to him, while
|
|
we were fighting. I had told him about the ... I had said "rape" rape to
|
|
frighten him, but it didn't frighten him more than that. It just goes to show
|
|
you that, apparently, he was used to it. After that, he was continually
|
|
sending me text messages saying [ ...]
|
|
|
|
**Guest:** Did you go to court?
|
|
|
|
**TB:** No, but I went as far as drawing up a case. I went and saw a top
|
|
lawyer who already had an impressive file about him, but I didn't dare go
|
|
through with it. I didn't want to be, until the end of my days, the girl that
|
|
had had a problem with a politician.
