Guiliano Stroe, a five-year-old who has been called the world's strongest boy,
caused a sensation when he performed 20 air press-ups live on Romanian
television.
The physically demanding exercises, which involve raising the body from a
horizontal position into a handstand with the feet never touching the ground,
are more commonly performed by adult bodybuilders.
But the young Romanian, who has been lifting weights since the age of two,
broke his second Guinness World Record by performing the gruelling task 20
times in a row, destroying the previous high of 12.
His first world record came last year when he claimed the title for the
quickest ten-metre handstand walk - which he completed while holding a heavy
ball between his legs.
Iulian Stroe, a 33-year-old former gymnast, said his son enjoys striking macho
poses and performing to crowds in Italy, where he lives.
He added that the boy, who has a washboard stomach and bulging shoulder
muscles, also takes pleasure in more normal children's pastimes such as
painting and watching cartoons.
He said: "I took him with me to training at the gym ever since he was born.
"But he's still only a child and if he gets tired or bored we go and play."
The _Metro _newspaper reported that a boy previously named the world's
strongest, Richard Sandrak, from America, is believed to have given up
weightlifting.
According to reports the boy, now 17, had been trained by his father since the
age of three but had since lost interest in the sport.
