# Lady Gaga goes teetotal in Mayfair
|

## The popstar Lady Gaga is on the wagon during the promotion of her latest
|
||
album.

Alcohol seemed to be very much on Lady Gaga's mind when she performed at
|
||
Annabel's nightclub in Mayfair. Alas, as the punters downed shots of Belvedere
|
||
vodka -- one of the sponsors of the evening -- the American pop singer had to
|
||
admit that she could not partake herself.
|
||
|
||
"I wish I could drink," she sighed. "I am in the middle of promoting my album,
|
||
so I have to be good." She dedicated one of her songs, however, to "all the
|
||
drunken men I have had in my life…"
|
||
|
||
**Piers Beckwith enjoys taste for heights **
|
||
|
||
His identical twin brother, Henry, is ensconced with the diminutive former
|
||
Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, but Piers Beckwith has found a woman who he can
|
||
look in the eye.
|
||
|
||
Piers, 32, the son of the property developer Sir John Beckwith, is courting
|
||
Josephine Kime, the model, who hit the headlines after she was ordered off a
|
||
bus for being too tall.
|

**The king's slurred speech**

||
Tom Hooper had Hollywood at his feet after _The King's Speech_ won four

||
Oscars. The director has, however, made an unusual choice for his next project
|
||
-- television advertisements for Captain Morgan rum.
|
||

||
"He has done a few ads and liked this one because it was very creative," says
|
||
Fergus Brown, of the production company. Hooper has been filming on a replica
|
||
of Henry Morgan's galleon.
|
||

||
**Andrew Robathan: Who dares whinge**
|
||
|
||
Andrew Robathan, the Tory defence minister, who tried to evict the Labour MP
|
||
Stella Creasy from a Commons lift when he mistook her for a member of the
|
||
public, does seem to have awful transportation problems.
|
||
|
||
Last year, he had a chauffeur-driven car ferried to France for a 24-hour trip,
|
||
less than a week after David Cameron had ordered the Government to limit use
|
||
of official cars.
|
||
|
||
The former SAS officer, who once suggested that MPs' salaries be increased to
|
||
£110,000, said: "I do not recognise any criticism that suggests we have been
|
||
profligate with public money."
