# Puss in Boots stars at Cannes
|

## Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek launch the first publicity stunt of
|
|
Cannes in 2011, in a pair of giant boots.

Seeking to promote the animated spin off from the Shrek series, Banderas and
|
|
Hayek appeared peeking out of a pair of giant boots at the end of the jetty
|
|
across from the luxury Carlton Hotel in Cannes.
|
|
|
|
"I think we're very lucky to start the festival and be one of the first ones
|
|
because the journalists are not as tired. They have not been partying for too
|
|
long," said Hayek, who plays new character Kitty Softpaws in the film, which
|
|
is still in production.
|
|
|
|
Banderas and Hayek didn't actually record any of their parts in the same room
|
|
but Hayek said: "We've worked together long enough that I've always felt him
|
|
in the room when I was working.
|
|
|
|
"I also know the character, his character is better known than mine. So I was
|
|
working with a smile on my face because his spirit was lingering around every
|
|
time I did it."
|
|
|
|
"Puss in Boots" is scheduled for release in November.
|
|
