# Is there life after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
## Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was the seventh and final book in the
wizarding series, but could JK Rowling be planning number eight?

Rowling has not ruled out the idea of writing another, or even several further
novels about Harry and his fellow wizards.
In an interview last month with Oprah Winfrey, the US television host, Rowling
said that characters from the Harry Potter series were still in her head, and
that one day she 'could definitely' write several new books about them.
"I'm not going to say I won't. I love writing them," Rowling confessed.
This is not the first time that Rowling has hinted at a continuation of the
phenomenally successful Harry Potter series.
In 2007 the author told _Time_ magazine that since completing the seventh book
she had experienced "weak moments, when I've said, 'Yeah, all right' to the
eighth novel".

Yet the author conceded that if she were to write an eighth book, it would be
unlikely that Harry would be the central character.
Rowling added: "But these are big 'ifs'. Let's give it ten years and see how
we feel then."
Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, is reluctant to appear in another film. "Oh
God, she promised me categorically that there wouldn't be another book
involving Harry!" he laughed when told about the Oprah comments.
The author has spoken in the past of the pressures of writing after the
success of the Harry Potter novels, claiming in 2005 that she was tempted to
do so under a pseudonym.
She said, "I'm very frightened - you can imagine - of the unbearable hype that
would attend a post-Harry Potter book. And… not sure I look forward to that at
all!"
Rowling has since written a number of books extraneous to the Harry Potter
series, including fictional 'schoolbooks' _Quidditch Through the Ages_ and
_Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them_.
In 2007 Rowling wrote a book of fairytales, _The Tales of Beedle the Bard_,
which was auctioned at almost £2million for charity.
Then in 2008 she auctioned a mini-prequel to the Harry Potter series, also for
charity, in which Sirius Black and James Potter retell one of their escapades
from before Harry's birth.
While hinting in her recent interview with Oprah at the prospect of penning
further Harry Potter adventures, Rowling also said that she has moved into a
different phase of writing.
"I need to write. I love it. I need to do it." she said.
The second and final cinematic instalment of _Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallows_ is scheduled to premiere in July next year.
Will it be the last ever Harry Potter film? We'll see.
