# Second body found after Sian O'Callaghan suspect held
|
||
|
||
## A second body has been found by police investigating the murder of Sian
|
||
O'Callaghan after the suspect in her death told them of a buried corpse.

But detectives have not disclosed who they believe the body was, saying only
|
||
that they believe it was a young woman abducted in Swindon between 2003 and
|
||
2005.

||
|

They will have to use dental records and DNA to work out the identify of the
|
||
body, which was found at a field in Gloucestershire where they had been
|
||
digging for more than two days.
|
||
|
||
Taxi driver Chris Halliwell led them first to Miss O'Callaghan's body then
|
||
told them of a second burial site prompting a major dig by forensic scientists
|
||
using JCBs.
|
||
|
||
Det Supt Steve Fulcher said the 47-year-old man being held in connection with
|
||
the two murder investigations had "indicated he killed a young woman between
|
||
2003 and 2005.
|
||
|
||
"He could not be specific about the date but he said she had been taken from
|
||
the Swindon area."

The suspect was also unable to identify the woman, he said.

||
Mr Halliwell is in custody in Swindon after being arrested for suspected
|
||
kidnap and two murders.
|
||
|
||
Dental tests could reveal the woman's identity by Sunday while DNA tests are
|
||
expected to take three days.
|
||
|
||
Mr Fulcher said: "Officers have found remains which we believe to be human at
|
||
the location at Eastleach. Work is ongoing at the site."
|
||
|
||
Police were led to the isolated Gloucestershire field, 25 miles from Miss
|
||
O'Callaghan's home town of Swindon, on Thursday by Mr Halliwell.
|
||
|
||
The father-of-three had been arrested outside Asda supermarket where he was
|
||
picking up a fare.
|
||
|
||
He also took officers to the body of Miss O'Callaghan ,at Uffington,
|
||
Oxfordshire, miles east of Swindon. The office administrator was formally
|
||
identified by her family on Friday night.
|
||
|
||
The results of tests showing the precise cause of her death are expected to be
|
||
released early this week.
|
||
|
||
Mr Fulcher said there was "no indication" that Sian was sexually assaulted.
|
||
|
||
He also issued a new appeal for witnesses who had been "lamping or poaching"
|
||
in the area around Ramsbury, near Malborough, in the early hours of Saturday
|
||
last week to contact police without fear of arrest over their illegal
|
||
activities.
|
||
|
||
Magistrates have given police extra time to question Mr Halliwell, who is in
|
||
police custody after being arrested on suspicion of kidnap and two murders.
|
||
|
||
Miss O'Callaghan was last seen by friends leaving the Swindon nightclub at
|
||
2.52am on Saturday March 19.
|
||
|
||
At 1.15am she texted her boyfriend Kevin Reape, 25, with whom she lived in a
|
||
flat half a mile away from the club, saying: "Where are you? x."
|
||
|
||
Records show that he texted her back at 3.24am, saying: "Worried. X". It later
|
||
emerged that her mobile signal was from Savernake Forest.
|
||
|
||
Police believe her body was later moved from there to Uffington Hill.
|
||
|
||
Det Supt Fulcher also revealed that CCTV footage had revealed more details of
|
||
how Miss O'Callaghan was abducted.

||
|
||
The footage showed that the driver of a green Toyota Aventis had driven past
|
||
her in Swindon High Street, and had turned around and gone back towards where
|
||
she was standing.
|
||
|
||
The CCTV enabled officers to identify the car and trace the driver.
|
||
|
||
Hundreds of floral tributes to Sian, placed outside the Fuju nightclub were
|
||
removed last night, with the approval of Sian's family, to allow the club to
|
||
reopen.
|
||
|
||
Miss O'Callaghan's family thanked the many members of the public who helped in
|
||
the search for "our beautiful girl".
