# Men's health concerns: time to tackle your health
|
|

## Take a look at the results of a major men's health survey carried out by
|

TENA Men, covering everything from appearance and fitness, to obesity and
|
|

Men are aware of their health as never before. They have far greater knowledge
|
|
of diet than their fathers, and are mostly happy with their health and
|
|
appearance.
|
|
|
|
This exclusive _Daily Telegraph_ survey for TENA _Men_ shows that today's
|
|
45-plus men are probably the most mind and body aware generation ever. Most
|
|
have a positive attitude towards their health and are taking steps to stay in
|
|
good shape. Almost all would consult a doctor if they had concerns, half go
|
|
for regular health MOTs and a similar number have adopted simple checks to
|
|
spot problems.
|
|
|
|
Age, it seems, breeds contentment. Astonishingly, 90 per cent of men over 75
|
|
said they were happy with their life as it was - a figure far higher than that
|
|
for those who are 25 years younger.
|
|
|
|
But there are lingering fears. A sizeable minority said they had grown more
|
|
concerned about their health as the years passed. Worryingly, certain
|
|
conditions were less likely to prompt 45-plus men to consult a doctor,
|
|
including obesity, bladder weakness and erectile dysfunction. Of those with
|
|
these conditions, many fail to seek professional advice, perhaps out of
|
|
anxiety or embarrassment.
|
|
|
|
Nevertheless, most men demonstrated confidence about their appearance,
|
|
parrying a question about who they would most like to look like. It is no
|
|
surprise, perhaps, that of the men who did volunteer an answer, 29 per cent
|
|
picked Pierce Brosnan, an actor associated with that most enduring of roles -
|
|
James Bond.
