# Men's health concerns: Bladder weakness
|
|
|

## TENA Men's latest health survey found that it isn't uncommon for men to

worry over health issues such as bladder weakness.

Men's attitudes to seeking help with health worries are positive, though there
|
|
are exceptions. Worryingly, just under half of men experiencing erectile
|
|
dysfunction, bladder weakness and obesity have not consulted a doctor.
|
|
|
|
Around six in 10 know about bladder weakness, with 73 per cent associating it
|
|
with urinary tract infections, 68 per cent with an enlarged prostate and 35
|
|
per cent with obesity.
|
|
|
|
Some 12 per cent have experienced the condition personally, but only 7 per
|
|
cent sought advice.
|
|
|
|
TENA Men brand marketing manager Zoe Brimfield says: 'The results of this
|
|
survey support our own research that one in nine men is experiencing some form
|
|
of bladder weakness. What's more interesting is the lack of awareness of the
|
|
condition and the support available to help manage it. Just 11 per cent of
|
|
people with bladder weakness have tried protective pads.
|
|
|
|
'Almost a quarter of people still see bladder weakness as a sign of old age
|
|
which highlights the stigma faced by men experiencing the condition. Our aim
|
|
in supporting this research is to bring men's health concerns to the fore and
|
|
encourage them to confront the issues affecting them.'
