# Men's health concerns: health and happiness
|
|
|
|
## In a recent men's health survey, TENA Men posed questions about health and
|
|
happiness, including which male celebrity men over 50 aspire to.
|

The survey paints a largely cheery picture of 45-plus men's health. It is a
|
|
vast improvement on previous generations, but there is still work to do.
|
|
|
|
Slightly more than half of those surveyed think their health is good or very
|
|
good, while only 13 per cent say it is bad and very bad.
|
|
|
|
A third consider themselves fit, but a quarter do no physical activity - an
|
|
extraordinary figure given the many diseases associated with being overweight.
|
|
|
|
Seven in 10 are pleased with their life as it is. On a less positive note, a
|
|
third of respondents worry about their health, especially those aged 45 to 54.
|
|
|
|
Sixty per cent are aware that life expectancy is increasing and feel that
|
|
brings increased pressure to look after their health.
|
|
|
|
Indeed, worries about health are seen as a greater source of stress than the
|
|
modern anxieties of work, relationships and appearance.
|
|
|
|
Most men, though, are reassuringly keen to take care of themselves. Three
|
|
quarters paid more attention to their health than previously.
|
|
|
|
Just over half go for regular health checks and use self-examination to spot
|
|
possible problems such as cancer.
|
|
|
|
Compared with their fathers' generation, they are more aware of diet and signs
|
|
of ill health.
