Amazon's Kindle ebook store saw its UK launch today bringing with it a
collection of more than 400,000 ebooks.
The new store boasts a large collection of the latest British bestsellers. The
UK store will also have relatively competitive prices with new releases
boasting lower price tags than that of the high street. Peter Mandleson's 'The
Third Man' for example is downloadable for £11.25 as opposed to £15 hardback
in shops. Select bestsellers will be priced at £2.70 at the ebookstores
launch. The store operates in sterling as opposed to the American Kindle
stores dollars which should make comparing prices easier.
Those who ordered the previously announced **[UK edition of the Amazon

27th. The UK Kindle reader will arrive in two forms; a Wi-Fi only version
priced at £109 and a 3G-enabled Kindle at £149. The new Amazon Kindle is
lighter and faster than previous America-only offerings, boasting a six inch
reading area and a 50 percent higher contrast screen than other e-readers on
offer.
However, current Kindle iPad users get instant access to the UK store and can
begin downloading right away. Those who use Kindle on other devices will also
find the store is now available to browse online.
