How to share a picture, video or audio file
Media files like pictures, videos and audio files can't be uploaded directly into the network. Instead, you can upload them on suitable websites and platforms and share them via link in your posts and comments.
Please make sure the content adheres to the terms and conditions of the network operator and is legal.
Here is how you can share it:
- If the media file isn't available on the Internet yet, upload it on a suitable platform. For example, you can use:
- for images: Pixelfed, Instagram, Imgur, Flickr or an alternative
- for videos: PeerTube, Vimeo, YouTube or an alternative
- for audio files: Funkwhale, Spotify or an alternative
- Copy the address (URL) of the media file.
- Paste it into your comment or post where you like it to be shown.
- The media file be embedded in your post/comment if qualifies for embedding and if the option to embed such content is enabled in your account settings under third-party providers. Otherwise it will be displayed as a link.
